Newsletter January 2012

Here we are in a brand new year and looking forward with optimism and expectation, what with the increased activity of the Olympics and the Queen’s Jubilee, it should help to lift a little of the economic gloom. Well one can only hope!

On the paintings front Jack completed a very exciting commission for the England and Wales Cricket board of the moment in the test match versus India at Edgbaston when England became Top of the World among the test playing nation. Jack captured the moment with the team celebrating the wicket that gave them the status. With the new stand as a backdrop the picture is stunning. This commission was exclusively for the ECB so no prints will be available to sell to the public. Currently besides commissioned work Jack is working hard on the paintings for our new book 18 Counties. I have written up 10 chapters thus far and now Jack has to catch up! Much more demanding for him of course, he hasn’t been out of his studio since well before Christmas. He is surviving on tea and Jaffa cakes!

Jack was commissioned by Geraint Jones to paint a portrait of him taking a splendid catch down the leg side which turned the series during the test match in 2005 at Edgbaston; it all seems to happen there! We produced a small exclusive run of prints for Geraint to use in his benefit year which in fact gets underway with a lunch on the 19th January. We wish him and his committee every success with their planned events.
